ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

The Strategic Disaster Risk Reduction Officer is responsible for supporting the delivery of multiple Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives. They will support the development of the LGA strategic and operational disaster resilience policies, strategic framework and action plans, support the implementation and monitoring of the Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy, and execute tasks identified by the Strategy. This role will support building adaptive capacity and disaster readiness in our communities and deliver education programs to improve the community’s ability in future disaster responses.

Essential to this role will be tertiary qualifications in Environmental or Social Science and/or relevant experience with disaster preparedness, complemented by demonstrated understanding of current State and National disaster recovery and preparedness strategic plans, and highly developed communication and engagement skills. 

Training and experience in Community Development and Project Management would be advantageous - however not essential. 

This position is offered on a term contract, full-time basis working 35 hours per week until February 2027.

Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 10 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $77,968 - $87,704 per annum plus a generous vehicle allowance of $17,639 and 11.5% superannuation.
