The Role
A rewarding opportunity has presented itself for a dedicated and driven individual to join our Parks Unit as a Crew Leader.
In this role you work as part of a team that focusses on maintaining and improving Council's Parks, Gardens, and landscaped areas.
This opportunity will be offered on a permanent full-time basis.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Ensure gardens including annuals, native & non-native, high profile, traffic facilities and other landscaped areas are maintained.
- Provide recommendations for the mulching, watering, maintenance, embellishment and improvement and implement a.
- Undertake risk and hazard assessments of areas under their control and where necessary take corrective action.
- Ensure all works are completed within timeframes.
- Ensure all jobs comply with relevant acts and standards.
- Operate plant & equipment including hedgers, brush cutters, mowers and other related plant as required.
- Collect litter and clean park amenities as required.
- Report equipment faults and failures.
- Assist the Team Leader to provide on the job skills development and training to staff.
- Provide assistance and advice to Council, management, staff, customers and the community when necessary.

You will have:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Horticulture, Landscaping or a similar relevant field
- Chemical Users Accreditation Certificate or equivalent Chainsaw Certificate Level 1 (Basic) or equivalent
- RMS Traffic Control Certificate ‘Traffic Controller’, or equivalent
- Current Class C Drivers Licence.
- Experience in Gardens & landscape maintenance.
- Experience in leading a small team of staff at an operational level.
- Skills & experience necessary to fulfil the role, responsibilities, duties and competency requirements of the position.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $75,011 (Grade E, Step 1) + AWACA + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience
