About the role

Are you ready to kick-start an amazing career in Human Resources? The City of Coffs Harbour is now accepting applications from candidates interested in completing a two-year traineeship in Certificate IV Human Resource Management whilst gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of the HR function!

As a Trainee HR Officer with the City, you will work amongst the experienced and passionate Organisational Development team conducting tasks and projects associated with performance development, employee and business relations, learning and development, recruitment and onboarding, and Work, Health & Safety to name a few. You will learn how to plan and organise materials and tools required to deliver a professional Human Resources service to City employees and play a key role in promoting a culture that is conducive to a safe and positive workplace.

The start date for this traineeship is flexible (e.g. 2025) depending on the circumstances of the successful candidate.

About you?

  • Minimum Completion of Year 12 Higher School Certificate or equivalent
  • A genuine interest and passion for developing a career in Human Resources
  • High level of personal initiative, integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy including experience/knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work under supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • The successful candidate will possess a willingness to undertake and successfully complete a Certificate IV Human Resources Management through a combination of on-the-job and off-the-job training.

What's on offer?

  • Between $687.10 and $803.30 per week (depending on age) + 11.5% superannuation
  • Temporary two-year Full-Time position 35 hours per week.
  • Scope for performance-based salary increases in line with the completion of studies.
  • Support throughout your studies and reimbursements for learning materials and textbooks.
  • Ongoing training and development throughout your qualification.
  • Work/Life balance with the ability to accrue flex time
