Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within Council's Waste Services team as a Landfill Operator.

  • Permanent Full-Time – 38 hours per week (Rostered shifts of 8 or 9 hours between 7:00am-5:00pm Monday to Sunday)
  • Location - Moree
  • Attractive Salary ranging from $1,141.00 up to $1,311.95 depending on qualifications and experience 
  • PLUS Superannuation contribution

  • 10% above award loading to compensate for seven (7) day-rotating roster system.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Landfill Operator will be required to ensure maximum resource recovery of disposed waste materials is achieved by recycling, reuse, and resource recovery as appropriate to the materials/waste streams to minimise landfilling. The Landfill Operator will also carry out required weighbridge operations, transfer facilities, landfill and baling operations, including operating plant at Moree Waste Management Facility and Village Landfills/Transfer stations in accordance with relevant legislation.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

ABOUT YOU

Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications: 

  • Certificate III in Asset Management (Waste Management) – (Applicants who do not hold this qualification may be considered in some instances, however, must commit to gaining the qualification upon commencement.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and unsupervised.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work under conflicting time pressures.
  • Ability to work additional hours when required by the authorised delegated officer.
  • Sound literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to keep accurate records including, timesheets, daily running sheets & fuel usage records.
  • Basic computer skills for the operation of weighbridge software system to record disposal transactions.
  • General Construction and Induction card.
  • Class C Drivers Licence (Manual).
  • Class MR Drivers Licence -  (Applicants who do not hold this licence may be considered in some instances, however, must have the ability to obtain at their own cost within three months of commencement.)
  • High Risk Licence (Forklift).
  • Validation of competency for Front End Loader / Backhoe (LB), Loader Skidsteer (LS) & Excavator (LE)
  • Ability to provide evidence of vaccination/immunisation for Hep A, Hep B and Tetanus. This includes maintaining the currency of these throughout your period of employment.
