  • Potential to earn an additional market rate allowance up to $5,000

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our People, Safety and Performance Team. 

Reporting directly to the Payroll and Compensation Coordinator, you will be responsible for the efficient and accurate administration of the payroll function including the processing of weekly payroll through the iChris system. You will ensure payroll operates efficiently and processes are accurate and legally compliant while providing advice and education to staff.  

About you

The successful applicant will be great at dealing with people and able to maintain confidentiality of information.  Your accuracy, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines will ensure your success in this role. You will be a high achiever with:

  • Relevant qualification in accounting or a related discipline or extensive relevant experience 
  • Relevant experience in payroll processing
  • Demonstrated application of awards and industrial relations legislation
  • Recognised accuracy, attention to detail and methodical checking
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in windows-based computer applications, particularly Word and Excel
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment

 Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in Local Government
  • Experience in ichris and Finance One systems
  • Experience in understanding and explaining conditions of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs)
