About the role
Provide dedicated injury management support, guidance and services to managers and senior leaders within Bayside Council to achieve positive return-to-work outcomes with reasonable claim costs.
The role is responsible for providing specialist advice and leading Bayside Council’s injury management activities, including strategically managing workers compensation claims, liaising with Payroll and Accounts Payable for accurate processing of claim payments, effectively communicating with Bayside Council’s external stakeholders, collaborating with People and Culture to manage non-work related cases, preparing reports for Executive, and providing support where required with other Safety projects and investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for the Safety team to deliver all injury management-related activities, services, support, and feedback.
- Provide strategic and operational injury management advice and support, using an internal consultancy approach, to enhance leadership capabilities and development of a positive and resilient approach to achieving management goals.
- Develop and maintain Council’s Return to Work
- Effectively manage workers compensation claims to ensure minimal time loss and impacts on
- Collaborate with Payroll and Accounts Payable to ensure accurate calculations of workers compensation wage payments and wage reimbursement schedules.
- Liaise effectively with key external stakeholders including State Cover, medical and legal practitioners, and relevant legislative bodies to achieve optimal outcomes for Council and its employees.
- Provide education, support, and advice to managers to ensure they are proactive participants in supporting the rehabilitation of their workers and sharing information regarding the performance and trends of claims in their area of responsibility.
- Assist the relevant stakeholders in the management of non-work related injuries/illnesses by developing non-work related return to work plans.
- Ensure Executive are informed of relevant workers compensation claim matters by preparing weekly
- Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.
- Work in collaboration with and assist the team, manager, and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
- Assisting with workplace incident investigations to support WHS claims, ensuring thorough and detailed analysis of each case.
- Leading and providing comprehensive support for Wellbeing initiatives as needed, contributing to a healthier and more productive work environment.
- Offering extensive support for various Safety projects as necessary, ensuring all safety protocols and standards are met effectively
About you
We are looking for a someone who has:
- Experience in injury management, occupational health, or a similar role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in injury management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary Range: $95,477.88 - $106,935.17 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation
