Title: Environment Officer - Coast, Permanent - Part-time Role, 28 hours per week
Salary Range: $89907.72 to $104487.69 (on a pro-rata basis) per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

The Environment & Climate Change Group manages complex environmental and engineering programs and projects to achieve quality outcomes for the residents and environment of the Northern Beaches. The Coast and Catchments Team delivers the strategic and operational management of catchments, waterways and coastal areas including ecological, risk and restoration programs.

The role of the Environment Officer – Coast & Catchment is to provide specialised / technical support necessary to develop Council policies, plans and projects with respect to coastal, catchment, estuarine, water quality issues and other environmental management related activities.  The range of tasks includes strategic management planning, development planning and assessment, scoping and proposing projects, writing and administering contracts, reviewing budgets, managing Council Committees and coordinating consultants and contractors.

Our opportunity:
The key focus areas of this role include: 

  1. Time management to balance and deliver a number of projects with competing deadlines and of varying complexity.
  2. Balancing the demands of key stakeholder groups, beach users, residents, and council guidelines, requiring nuanced understanding, stakeholder management, and navigation of complex regulations.
  3. Identify, analyse, and evaluate coastal hazard risks relating to development applications and council works.
