The Opportunity
As the Sustainability Lead in the City of Perth, you will drive engagement, collaboration, and analysis across various service areas to integrate the Sustainability Strategy and enhance its impact on community outcomes. The role will focus on developing sustainability management system and providing knowledge leadership across the organisation. Key responsibilities will include gathering information, aligning the City’s initiatives with international, national and state objectives, and implementing projects to incorporate measurable sustainability practices throughout the City’s geographic region.
Reporting to the Alliance Manager within our Sustainability team, your responsibilities would primarily include:
- Under limited direction, lead research, consultation, and analysis on a range of complex issues relevant to the growth and future of the City and its geographic region, with a focus on the sustainability of the these and the City’s strategic objectives;
- Exercise operational control of the Unit’s preparation, monitoring and business partnering across the organisation embedding sustainability in everything we do, including those pertaining to policies and strategies, providing direction and feedback to subordinates as necessary;
- Engage with internal asset owners to establish long term best practices that facilitate achievement of sustainability outcomes; and
- Maintain compliant work practices in accordance with all relevant legislation, recordkeeping frameworks and all other relevant Council policies and procedures, and other frameworks.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualification in sustainable development, project management, engineering, business, data science, chartered accounting or a relevant;
- Extensive experience in the development of sustainability project initiatives, including identification, initiation and procurement through to delivery;
- Thorough knowledge of process improvement, applicable frameworks and the legislative as well as operational functions of government in relation to sustainability, including federal, state and other local governments benchmarks; and
- Ability to effectively plan, organise and manage your own time and workload to achieve specific outcomes within set timeframes whilst balancing multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.

Eligibility
To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:

- A current ‘C’ class Australian drivers licence; and
- A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
