Sutherland Shire is a unique part of greater Sydney – iconic beaches, stunning coastline, vibrant town centres, and incredible national parks, all just 26 km from the CBD. We’re home to a thriving and connected community of over 230,000 people, who celebrate culture and diversity, and value our incredible open spaces and active lifestyles.

The opportunity

It’s a great time to be part of Sutherland Shire Council. We have a newly appointed CEO, looking to build a refreshed and energetic Executive Leadership Team, to work with our staff and elected Council to take Sutherland Shire to the next level.

Over the coming year, our Executive Team will work collaboratively to enhance community confidence and overall organisational performance. We’ll champion a culture of safety first, customer at heart, and future focus.

As Director Community, you will lead the delivery of Council’s programs for arts and culture, early education, libraries, leisure centres, sports and recreation, public safety, beach lifeguards, community development across distinct sectors, economic development and tourism, companion animal safety, and community venues.

A positive attitude and a strategic mindset are critical, with a focus on how we can make a difference and deliver brilliant outcomes for our community. We have an awesome team waiting to kick goals with you, open to change and ready to contribute. It is important that you are a leader that will inspire, coach and develop our teams to be their best.
