The Opportunity

As the Principal Electrical Engineer in the City of Perth, you will lead a team to provide the City with expert electrical engineering advice across multiple services including design, project delivery and maintenance. This position coordinates the delivery of the City’s electrical projects and manages the engagement of electrical consultants for specialist delivery of some services.

Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager within our Infrastructure & Assets team, your responsibilities would primarily include:

  • Lead and develop electrical designs and specifications for the City’s lighting and electrical projects;
  • Develop project briefs including scope, budgets and programs (MS Project), liaising with other departments and stakeholders as required; 
  • Ensure the team has a workforce which has the capabilities and skills needed to achieve the City’s objectives; and
  • Maintain compliant work practices in accordance with all relevant legislation, recordkeeping frameworks and all other relevant Council policies and procedures, and other frameworks.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering;
  • Experience in leading a team, and in the development of electrical infrastructure design criteria, standards and specific functions;
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with electrical and lighting industries that deliver civil, electrical and landscape assets in a public environment; and
  • Experience in undertaking procurement activities, tendering and contract management.
