Do you have a passion for providing operational and strategic budgeting and financial advice? Council is seeking a suitably qualified Finance professional to join the Finance Control team in the role of Principal Coordinator – Budgeting & Financial Control. The successful candidate will lead and proactively manage the overall preparation and monitoring of Council’s Recurrent and Capital Budget.

The role of our Principal Coordinator - Budgeting & Financial Control Includes:

  • Lead and proactively manage the preparation and monitoring of Council’s Recurrent and Capital Budget.
  • Responsible for informing the Manager Financial Control of any emerging financial or control issues that are pose risk to the organisation.
  • Provision of timely financial information and advice to Management, the Manager Financial Control and Chief Financial Officer.
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of Council’s monthly Budget Review as per OLG Guidelines.
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of Council’s Operational Plan, Delivery Program and Resourcing Strategy.
  • Oversee & manage the continued development of budgeting, processes, and systems to ensure financial control and accuracy of data for reporting and decision making.
  • Provision of financial modelling and scenario analysis to highlight variances to Manager Financial Control and assist in corrective actions.

What we are seeking in our new team member:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Business/Accounts or a related field
  2. Membership of Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Australia or Chartered Accountants (CA) Australia
  3. Greater than 10 years’ of experience in a Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Corporate and Strategic Planning
  4. A thorough knowledge & understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Regulations, Codes of Accounting Practice, other legislation including inflation and other factors that affect the Economy.
