The role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Development Engineer to join our Development Engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert engineering advice to support sustainable growth and infrastructure development on the MidCoast. You will ensure that projects meet the highest standards of compliance and deliver excellent customer service while implementing best practice processes and systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering development engineering advice, encompassing all engineering considerations in relation to future public civil infrastructure needs.
- Offering pre-DA lodgement advice.
- Conducting comprehensive engineering assessments of development applications, covering driveways, road construction, stormwater drainage and detention, traffic, and car parking.
- Issuing construction certificates for public engineering works.
- Representing Council at the Land and Environment Court.
- Proactively contributing to the continuous review, improvement, documentation, and maintenance of Council’s engineering standards, practices, and processes related to development.
- Mentoring and coaching development engineering staff and other staff involved in the development engineering process.
What you'll bring
- Qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field and/or relevant experience in development engineering.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the professional and legislative requirements within the scope of the role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and negotiate outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring others in a team.
- A proven track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Salary: An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
