The Head of Data (Data Manager) will be responsible for developing and executing the Council’s data strategy, ensuring that data is leveraged as a strategic asset to drive business objectives. The role will oversee all aspects of data management and governance, information management, and data analytics. The role will be pivotal in transforming the Council into a data-driven organisation by building a robust data architecture and integrating data into decision-making processes.
Among the core focus of this role are:
- Design and delivery of spatial data and records management to support the Council’s operations.
- Direct and manage the work and activities of staff and ensure that the team consistently works to meet its targets and commitments against their individual or teamwork or performance plans and Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans.
- Lead, manage and inspire the team, coach and develop staff, facilitate partnerships across Council and help solve problems and resolve issues, and model achievement of goals and commitments.

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Information Technology or relevant experience.
- Significant experience in a senior data leadership role, including expertise in data strategy, data management, and data architecture.
- Expert knowledge and experience in the design and delivery of spatial data and records management solutions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data governance, data privacy (State Records Act 1998, Australian Privacy Act 1988, GIPA act 2009), and data security.
- Expert knowledge of state and local government planning requirements.
