The North Burnett Regional Council is seeking enthusiastic, adaptable, and community-focused individuals to join our Customer Service & Library Team on a casual basis. This role provides essential support for both planned and unplanned leave.

As a valuable member of our team, you will play a key role in connecting our community with a wide range of Council services, community information, and library resources.

We understand the North Burnett is a large region and you may not be able to travel to all towns. Candidates will have the opportunity to discuss preferred work locations if they reach interview stage.

You will require a current driver’s licence and your own vehicle to travel to the work location.

The role is diverse and includes:

  • Customer interactions at a Customer Service and Library Centre and/or Council’s Contact Centre.
  • A range of operational, administrative and customer service functions in alignment with Council’s Corporate and Operational Plan and Customer Service Charter.
  • Assist with the day-to-day provision of library operations and support the delivery and promotion of library services and programs.

No specific library experience is required. Induction training and ongoing development will be provided to ensure you grow a broad knowledge of all Council services and ensure we continue to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Some key duties are:

  • Provide welcoming customer service through a variety of channels including but not limited to face-to-face interactions, telephone, written, email and online services.
  • Accurately capture customer enquiries and requests, process transactions and applications for a variety of Council Services including taking payments (receipting cash, cheque, EFTPOS).
  • Assist with the day-to-day provision of library operations (e.g. joining new members and processing loans and returns) and support the delivery and promotion of library services and programs.
  • Carry out general administrative functions relevant to the work area which are compliant with Council’s policies and procedures.

To be successful you will bring the following:

  • A proven ability to provide a quality customer experience with excellent interpersonal skills face to face and over the phone
  • A proven ability to work successfully in a team, contributing ideas and supporting team goals
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary administrative practices and the use of computer software including the MS Office Suite of products
  • Current C class drivers’ licence (or higher)
  • Ability to understand and follow work practices and procedures
  • Eligible to obtain and hold a current Working with Children Blue Card

Experience in local government, along with relevant qualifications and/or experience in a similar setting, is desirable. However, a strong commitment to customer service, motivation to serve the community, a passion for learning, and a drive to contribute effectively as part of a team are the key attributes for success in this role.
