We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Accountant to join our team. As the Accountant, you will play a vital role in assisting with the preparation of Council's financial plans, budgets, and reports.

Additionally, you will lead the implementation of a range of projects including online timesheets and enhancements in Payroll processing and reporting. If you have strong financial analytical skills, and a passion for process improvement, then keep reading!

In this role you will:

  • Assist in preparing, implementing, and monitoring Council's long-term financial plan, annual budget, quarterly reviews, and monthly reports.
  • Generate, modify, and distribute reports as necessary, contributing to general reporting efforts.
  • Lead the implementation of online timesheets and improvements in Payroll processing and reporting.
  • Participate in special projects to develop and maintain computerised financial models and other initiatives.
  • Assist in establishing, developing, and maintaining systems and procedures within the Finance Business Unit.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in implementing online timesheets and improving Payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with capitalisation of assets and contemporary management accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and reporting software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

The Liverpool Plains Shire Council is a diverse organisation employing over 120 staff across a wide variety of fields who deliver a range of services to the local government area encompassing Blackville, Caroona, Currabubula, Pine Ridge, Premer, Quirindi, Spring Ridge, Wallabadah, Werris Creek and Willow Tree and the almost 8000 residents who reside there.

The council is situated in Quirindi, the heart of the Liverpool Plains, 65km from Tamworth and about four hours North West of Sydney, famous for its stunning landscapes and rich, highly productive land and is the perfect place to call home.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

We offer a salary range of $81,541 - $104,379 gross per annum plus superannuation. The starting salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the position.
