An exciting opportunity has become available for a permanent, full-time Accounts Payable Officer to join our dynamic and integral Finance team within the Business and Corporate Services Directorate at Georges River Council, based in Hurstville.

  • Salary from $64,674.67 - $74,935.07 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation (dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

About the Role

Our Finance team is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Accounts Payable Officer who will report directly to the Head of Procurement & Contracts, ensuring the implementation of best practice in financial management processes. The successful candidate will maintain the accuracy and integrity of controls in the processing of payments and will support the finance team.

  • Resolve and efficiently respond to internal and external enquiries and requests
  • Timely and accurate processing and payment of invoices, bonds or other payment requests
  • Daily processing and receipt of payment transactions made to Council
  • Assist with the Monthly reports and completion of month-end
  • Completion of daily and monthly reconciliation with supporting documentation and take action on any corrective action required
  • Contribute to improving the accuracy and integrity of financial management processes by identifying and assisting in the implementation of improvements

 

 The successful candidate will have

  • Demonstrated experience and skills in the use of computerised accounting systems and applications
  • Previous experience in a business administration role
  • Demonstrated understanding of general ledger account codes and their application
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of finance policy and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to function with minimal supervision and effective time management skills
  • Strong commitment to customer service and ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to clearly explain account issues
