Your Position:

Burwood Council is seeking an energetic team player who understands and embraces the importance of delivering high quality, effective administration support.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:-

  • Collect and compile information, prepare documents, correspondence and meeting agendas/presentations/minutes, in line with quality and organisational requirements, to support information flow and inform decision making.
  • Respond to email and phone enquiries, communicate services, and resolve, escalate or redirect issues as required, to ensure the provision of accurate information.
  • Provide support across the Directorate to ensure efficient and consistent administration service delivery.
  • Complete routine financial transactions and purchasing services, ensuring compliance with Council’s corporate practices, policies and procedures.
  • Review administrative practices, systems and procedures to enhance unit efficiency and support delivery of quality outcomes.
  • Support the delivery of civic and organisational events as directed.
  • Collaborate with and assist team members, managers and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
  • Ensure relevant records are accurately created, maintained and saved in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures to ensure all information is correctly stored and accessible for timely decision-making and use.
  • Manage the directorate’s PPE and other supply inventories to facilitate the Directorate’s operations.

To be successful in this role you will have:-

  • Certificate III in Business Administration or a related discipline with contemporary experience in a similar role.
  • High level of communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and confidence to communicate effectively with individuals across all levels of an organisation.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and activities, prioritise work, meet strict deadlines skills all with a high attention to detail.
  • Proven computer skills and ability to use a wide range of software applications including Microsoft Office Suite and other content, record keeping and financial applications.
  • Ability to work outside of regular office hours when required.

Key Requirements:

  • COVID 19 vaccination for all employees (2 Vaccines)
  • Willingness to complete a National Police History Check
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment (where applicable)
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence
  • Local Government working experience an advantage
