About the Role

Council’s Governance & Risk team provides an active role in organisational governance and transparency.

The Administration Officer (Governance) supports the Governance Team and is a pivotal role in providing  high-quality technical and administrative functions for Council, by:

  • Supporting the preparation and facilitation of Council and Committee Meetings, including logistics such as room bookings and catering, agenda preparation, and minute-taking.
  • Providing high level administrative support including governance related activities across Council to facilitate good practice in ethics and values and the decision-making process.
  • Assist to implement and maintain governance systems and projects to enable legislative compliance and business improvements.
  • Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.
  • Work in collaboration with and assist the team, manager and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
  • Be involved in specific projects within Governance and Risk.

About You

The successful applicant will be experienced in administration, customer service, negotiation, and complaint handling. They will have a high attention to detail, be computer literate, adaptable to changing priorities, and have research and analytical skills, including demonstrated ability to apply legislation. Strong time management skills are essential.

We are looking for an individual with the following:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience
  • Availability to attend meetings (outside of business hours) as required
  • Skills in time management, prioritisation and flexibility in managing priorities
  • Interpersonal skills to build internal and external relationships
  • Listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with information technology systems and applications.

A proven track record in governance or a related field, ideally within a public sector or council environment will be highly regarded. Training is available for candidates that can demonstrate they have the transferrable skills required to excel in this position.
