About the Role

This is an apprenticeship in which you will gain a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery within a 3-year period. During this time you will combine structured study days with practical, on-the-job training. Based at the City of Perth’s Citiplace Community Centre in the CBD you will observe and learn methods of cookery and assist with:

  • The organisation and preparation of food and assist in food production.
  • Preparation of food items in accordance with menu requirements and recipes.

Working days at the Community Centre will be between 7am-3pm with designated study days to be arranged with the chosen training institution.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be enthusiastic and hardworking, and be willing to work towards achieving a formal qualification within 3 years.

You will need to have obtained:

  • C grades in Year 10 English and Maths or equivalent; or
  • OLNA or NAPLAN 9 Band 8; or
  • A Certificate I or II (in any field)

Eligibility

To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:

  • A right to work in Australia (e.g. a birth certificate, current passport or current visa);
  • Ability to obtain a Working with Children card;
  • Ability to pass a Language Literacy Numeracy assessment (LLN);
  • Fitness for work via a pre-employment medical;
  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months); and
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods.
