This exciting opportunity invites you to become a part of the dynamic City Presentation directorate. The City Presentation directorate ensures that our area is presented in an aesthetically pleasing manner, that is clean, enjoyable to live in and instils pride in our community.

Purpose the role

Bayside Council is looking for two dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Parks & Gardens Apprentice’s. This is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career in Parks & Gardens, working with a team of experienced professionals while gaining valuable hands-on experience and qualifications in the field. As a Parks & Gardens Apprentice, you will be trained to care for and maintain parks & gardens within the community. This is a full-time, max term position that combines practical, on-the-job learning with formal training, leading to a qualification in Parks & Gardens

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with hedging, pruning, planting, plant scaping and maintenance activities.
  • Learn how to identify health issues, pests, and diseases.
  • Support the team with parks & gardens maintenance activities.
  • Learn how to maintain tools and use equipment and machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, contributing to the upkeep of local green spaces.
  • Follow safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • General schooling to Year 10 or 12, or equivalent.
  • No prior experience necessary; training will be provided.
  • A genuine interest in Parks & Gardens.
  • Strong work ethic, commitment, and reliability.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and the ability to perform manual labour tasks.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
