About the role
We are looking for qualified and enthusiastic Arborists to join our growing Tree Maintenance team here at Woollahra Council on a permanent full time basis
As an Arborist, you will collaborate with a team of highly skilled professionals to carry out arboricultural maintenance on Council's owned trees in parks, reserves, bushland and streets. This includes the use of climbing techniques and EWPs to complete the required pruning and/or removal works throughout the municipality.
Due to the nature of this position, you may be requested to stay back after hours to attend emergency situations including tree failures or to assist the on-call Arborists. Award penalty rates will apply in addition to your normal rate of pay.
Tree Maintenance Staff start at our Alexandria facility before driving plant to Woollahra municipality and returning in the afternoon to finish. The hours for this position are 6:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday with regular opportunities for overtime work.
About you
We are looking to employ an Arborist who is passionate about working outdoors and can work effectively as part of a team. You will have completed the relevant qualifications in Arboriculture and have previous extensive experience in a similar role with high profile scheduled tree maintenance programs.
Essential Criteria
- Certificate III in Arboriculture, or, studying and near completion with demonstrated equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive experience in a similar role with high profile scheduled tree maintenance programs.
- Demonstrated commitment to Work Health and Safety in the workplace and the practical application of safe working procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to and work as part of a team and coordinate team members as required.
- Well-developed communication skills with experience in dealing with the public.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proven problem solving skills and a willingness to follow issues through to completion.
- Willingness and experience participating in a culture striving for continuous improvement.
- Current MR Driver’s License (or willingness to attain in the very short term as a requirement of the role)
- Computer literate.
- Construction Induction Card.
Desirable Criteria
- Traffic Control Qualifications – Blue and Yellow Card.
- High Risk License – EWP.
- Demonstrated ability to develop maintenance and improvement programs.
- Previous climbing and rigging experience.
