Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD.
The role
Are you an experienced planner looking to make an impact in a dynamic, inner-city environment? North Sydney Council is seeking an enthusiastic Assessment Officer to join our professional development assessment team.
Our teams are responsible for assessing challenging development applications with a focus on preserving and protecting high value heritage areas, foreshores areas and sensitive environmental assets. Our teams strive to achieve high quality planning and community outcomes which will provide for future generations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating development applications and providing guidance to both the public and applicants regarding the assessment process. Additionally, the role includes attending pre-development application meetings, site visits, and addressing general public inquiries.
The person
This role is ideal for a planner with a proactive attitude and the ability to communicate complex information clearly, both in writing and verbally. The position requires someone with strong attention to detail, a solution-oriented approach, and the ability to empathize with customers. The ideal candidate will excel at tackling a variety of planning challenges typical of a dynamic inner-city environment, while being able to think critically and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Salary up to $110,558 per annum + 11.5% superannuation
(Market allowance of up to $9,000 pa to be negotiated with the successful candidate)
35 hours per week with access to flexi time
