The Mid-Western Region is located in the Central Tablelands of

As the Mid-Western Region continues to grow and prosper at a
steady rate, Council now employs over 450 staff members and has an exciting
opportunity for a full-time Asset Engineer to work with and support
the operational managers, engineers and asset custodians in the development and
operation of Council’s asset and maintenance management systems.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implement improvements in Asset Management practice
    across the organisation
  • Participate in the management of Council’s
    corporate AMIS to ensure systems development and functionality meets Council’s
    needs
  • Participate in the development of annual capital
    works programs based on asset management principles and the input from
    operational managers
  • Participate in the development of Councils Asset
    Management policy, strategy and plans in conjunction with operational managers
  • Manage and maintain asset data including condition
    data within the Local Government Area
  • Provide asset management support including
    reporting and creation of new assets and maintaining the integrity of current
    asset registers
  • Implement the rollout of mobile technology to field
    staff
  • Participate in the development and implementation
    of a Maintenance Management Systems
  • Participate in other activities to support the
    Department including; Engineering Design work, preparation of Contract
    documentation, preparation of estimates, supervision of minor works by day
    labour or contract, investigation and resolution of traffic management issues
    and Development assessment work, as directed by the Manager Infrastructure
    Planning
  • Participate in the delivery of excellent customer
    service including community consultation regarding infrastructure projects and
    services
  • To actively promote and demonstrate the core values
    and behavioural requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent recognised
    by the Institute of Engineers Australia
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact at
    all levels on technical advice and policy issues to both internal and external
    clients
  • Experience in asset management within Local
    Government
  • Ability to lead a small team to achieve corporate
    goals
  • Proven ability in the use of effective decision
    making and problem solving techniques/processes
  • High level of computer systems literacy
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety
    responsibilities and a commitment to attending relevant WHS training

The salary range being offered for the position of Assets Engineer is $3497 -$3936 gross per fortnight/$90937-$102349 per annum (dependent on skills, qualifications
and experience) plus superannuation, a 19 day month and
long service leave after 5 years.
