About the role
We are looking to employ a qualified and highly motivated Building & Compliance Officer to join our Legal, Compliance and Enforcement team on a permanent full-time basis.
As a Building & Compliance Officer, you will join a progressive and collaborative team of professionals whose mission is to protect the health and safety of the community, by ensuring compliance with relevant building and environmental Acts and Regulations.
You will be undertaking compliance investigations however you will also responsible for the management and assessment of Complying Developments and Part 6 Certificate Applications and providing Principal Certifying Services to customers involved in building construction.
About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic member to join our team with excellent customer service skills, thorough knowledge of the legislation, sound negotiation skills and the ability to manage a number of competing complex priorities. You will be a high achiever with:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or one of the recognised qualifications for a building surveyor by Fair Trading NSW (or near completion).
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant building and planning legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in the management of investigations and enforcement action.
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to the provision of excellent customer service.
- Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively as part of a team environment.
- Computer literacy.
- Current Class C drivers licence.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to WHS and EEO principles.
Desirable Criteria
- Registered Certifier holding minimum category of accreditation of Building Inspector under the “Building and Development Certifiers Regulation 2020”.
- Practical experience in a similar role as a Building Surveyor/Compliance Officer.
- Experience assessing and determining certificates under Part 4 and 6 of the “Environmental Planning & Assessment Act”.
- Local Court and/or Land & Environmental Court experience.
