If your answer is 'Yes', Lachlan Shire Council is offering a Cadet Building Surveyor position within Council's high performing Environment and Planning team!

This position reports directly to the Environment and Development Services Officer. It assists Council Officers in assessing development applications and conducting mandatory critical stage inspections for new building activity. Additionally, this role will support and assist the environmental health functions, as well as the building certification work of the team.

Working both independently and as part of a fantastic team, you will work to achieve timely and appropriate outcomes on an exciting range of projects. This includes issuing an approval for a development, undertaking inspection on that development, issuing final occupation certificates and assisting officers to achieve Council's Energy Sustainability Plan.

This opportunity will allow you to develop essential skills through observation, hands-on practice and gain a formal education at TAFE or University with the goal of becoming a competent and skilled Building Surveyor.

This position is full-time, 12 months to 3 years. The successful candidate is expected to become an accredited Building Inspector within 12 months of commencement of studies or meet all accreditation requirements within that time frame. Within 3 years of commencement of studies, the expectation is for the candidate to attain accreditation as a Building Surveyor - Restricted (Class 1 and 10).

  • Working 76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day off (9 Day fortnight)
