About the Role:

Bayside Council is excited to announce a new Cadet Internal Auditor position, to support emerging talent in audit and risk management. This cadetship offers a rare opportunity to work alongside an experienced Internal Auditor while completing your studies in a relevant field. You will gain hands-on experience and mentorship in a professional, supportive environment, ensuring you build the skills and knowledge to excel in your career.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Internal Auditor, you will be mentored in various key areas, including:

• Assisting with developing and implementing audit plans to identify risks and assess Council operations.
• Supporting reviews of compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Participating in investigations, audits, and assessments to ensure ethical, effective, and efficient practices.
• Preparing reports and recommendations to inform decision-making by senior leadership.
• Learning to conduct probity audits of tender processes for selected projects.
• Enhancing staff awareness through audit-related communication and training initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for someone who:

• Is currently undertaking a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance in 2025 and is in their penultimate or final year of study.
• Demonstrates a strong interest in internal auditing, or compliance.
• Possesses excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Is keen to learn, adapt, and contribute to the team.

Salary Range: $1,194.60 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
