Burwood Council currently has a unique opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to join our Learn to Swim team and make a real difference to the water safety of our community.

By joining our Learn to Swim team, you will gain:

  • A Royal Life Swimming and Water Safety Certificate, fully funded by Council
  • Valuable teaching skills to provide swimming and water safety instruction
  • Engagement with small group classes to motivate participants and impart a life skill
  • A Casual job at our Aquatic Centre subject to the successful completion of required certificates and training, and suitability for the role of LTS Instructor

What do you need to apply for this opportunity?

  • A reasonable level of fitness and swimming ability
  • Minimum age of 15 years
  • Ability to work from 3:00pm on weekdays. Weekend shifts also possible as well as shifts between 8:00-15:00 in terms 3 and 4.
  • Two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccination
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment medical assessment at no cost to you

What does the training process involve?

  • Self-paced online training
  • One-day face to face practical workshop, included CPR Certificate
  • Completion of trial teaching hours at Enfield Aquatic Centre

What do you need to commit to?

  • Time to complete training
  • Obtain a Working with Children Check through Service NSW, simple online form (cost is approximately $80)
