Job/Responsibilities

Council is currently looking for dynamic, friendly and customer focused people to join the Tourism team as a Visitor Centre Tourism Officer.

Put your passion for helping people and exceptional communication skills to good use as you offer a professional and friendly service to visitors to the Orange region including:

  • Answering face to face, telephone and internet enquiries from people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Connecting visitors with information on local events, attractions, accommodation and tours
  • Assisting visitors to develop an itinerary of things to do during their stay
  • Helping maintain website and digital communications (including social media)
  • Receiving payments via cash and EFTPOS
  • Collecting visitor data and statistics
  • Undertaking general administration duties including data entry
  • Generally keep the Centre clean, tidy and a welcoming place to visit

These positions will suit people who will enjoy being the "face" of Council, have a passion for "selling" our area to visitors, and enjoy working as part of a team.  It's a busy role and you'll need a positive attitude while also following directions.

Interested?

To be successful in this position you must have:

  • Experience in a similar role including tourism or customer service
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Orange region
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to interact with people from a broad customer base
  • Ability to obtain a satisfactory Criminal History Check
