Title: Cemetery Labourer, Casual - Casual Role, 0 hours per week
$43.29 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading) + superannuation.

The Transport & Assets Division is responsible for a range of functions which support the whole of Council to deliver high quality services to our Northern Beaches bush land, rural and coastal community. The Division comprises of the following business units - Transport and Civil Infrastructure, Parks and Recreation, Property, Buildings and Commercial, Recreation Business and Capital Projects.
The Property Commercial and Tourist Assets team are a dynamic area of Council that manage a range of properties including; large tourist destinations, commercial, residential and community properties, cemeteries, outdoor dining permits and watercraft storage. The team are responsible for land acquisition and disposal/sale of land, administration of Council’s statutory property responsibilities including road closures, easements, encroachments and caveats.

Our opportunity:
Mona Vale Cemetery has two permanent on-site cemetery labourers and Council is looking to form a pool of casuals that would like to provide support for both ad-hoc work based on funeral bookings and potentially consider 1-2 days a week regular support or take on additional work during periods of team leave.
The key focus areas of this role include:
1. Working within a small team to complete grounds maintenance of the serene Mona Vale Cemetery and prepare for burial services.
2. Work closely with families to provide compassionate and professional assistance in all aspects of their cemetery needs, including plot selection, burial arrangements, and monument installation.
3. Protecting the public and fellow workers by being reliable and responsible.
4. Learning tasks and how to operate equipment, including a backhoe, to facilitate cemetery operations and contribute to the team
About you:
We’re looking for a self-motivated labourer, with a ‘customer first’ attitude, to join our small Cemetery team. You’ll bring empathy, a healthy motivation to learn, and a strong customer service ethos to a team passionate about making a difference to our community.
• No cemetery experience necessary.
• Hold a White Card (or willingness to obtain).
• Current unrestricted Class 1C (minimum) NSW Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
• Ability to operate a backhoe (or willingness to learn).
• An understanding of how WHS legislation is applied in the workplace.
• Appropriate physical fitness for the role.
• Basic skills and ability in operating modern smart devices such as smartphones and mobile tablet devices.
