Are you an experienced finance professional and a Manager with a strong background in Accountancy and are looking to work for an organisation that is focused on serving their community? Well this is the role for you!

Upper Lachlan Shire Council has an opportunity for you to join our dynamic team as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, you will be responsible for the supervision and management of Council's finance and customer services business functions. The portfolio encompasses long-term financial sustainability planning, quarterly and annual financial reporting, audit and taxation compliance, budget preparation, accounts payable and accounts receivable, rates and customer service.

The Role

  • Is responsible for managing the Finance and Customer Service business unit functions in accordance with the Local Government Act and Regulations;
  • Is the Responsible Accounting Officer for preparation of the Financial Statements, preparing the Long Term Financial Plan, preparing budgets within the Council's Operational Plan and Delivery Program.

About You

  • You are a qualified motivated individual who is experienced in leading, supervising and managing a team;
  • You have experience in the financial services leadership of a multi-disciplinary organisation of a similar size and scope;
  • Your exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are second to none; and
  • You hold a Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance/Business Management or related discipline (CPA or CA qualifications are highly regarded).

This position is Grade 20 in accordance with Council's Salary System and the Local Government (State) Award 2023. Council offers an attractive salary package, that is dependent upon skills, qualifications and experience of an applicant in an equivalent management role, of up to $160,000 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation.
