About the Opportunity

 

Georges River Council is seeking a highly skilled Chief Governance and Risk Officer to lead our governance, risk, access to information, and insurance functions. This role provides strategic, legislative, and operational advice to implement best practice governance and enterprise frameworks. You will manage a team of professionals responsible for project governance, privacy management, and the corporate policy framework.

The ideal candidate will foster a strong ethical culture, ensure compliance with legal and policy standards, and drive continuous improvement in governance and risk functions.

 What We Are Looking For

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Formal qualification or certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior governance, risk, or compliance role within a regulated environment, with a proven track record of successfully managing strategic initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of governance frameworks, risk management practices, and relevant legislation, including the Government Information (Public Access) Act and Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act, and other applicable regulations/standards.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a culture of integrity across all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in developing and overseeing compliance frameworks, ensuring ongoing adherence to statutory and policy requirements.
