About the role

The City of Sydney Library provides a space for our vibrant communities to grow, learn connect and create. The nine branches offer a key front-line service in the community for local residents, students, visitors, tourists and workers.

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic, customer focussed and motivated Library Assistant to join the City of Sydney’s Library Events, Activities and Partnerships team.

 

This is a targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position. Preference will be given to applicants of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.  The City of Sydney Council currently holds an exemption under section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 in relation to its targeted recruiting programs.

 

As part of this dynamic team you will be responsible for:
•    the effective development and delivery of core children’s programs across the library network, including early literacy.
•    creating an exceptional customer experience
•    contributing to the development of the Children and Young Adult services team capabilities
•    Supporting daily branch operations
 
The successful candidate will have experience in:
•    Providing high quality customer service
•    Excellent digital literacy
•    Effective communication skills
 
Applicants must be willing and prepared to undertake weekend work, and work across any of the nine City branches as required.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.

The recommended applicant must complete a pre-employment health declaration, medical assessment and working with children check.
