Description
Are you reliable, hardworking, and take pride in creating clean and welcoming spaces? We’re looking for dedicated Cleaners to join our team and help maintain the cleanliness of council properties.
About the role
As a Cleaner, you will be responsible for a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and minor maintenance across a range of council properties, such as the administration centre, libraries, offices, and public amenities.
This is a hands-on role where your attention to detail and commitment to cleaning will make a real difference to the City of Canning community.
Full-time permanent positions: 76 hours per fortnight (Monday-Thursday 4:00am - 12:30pm, Friday 4:00am - 10:00am, Saturday & Sunday - rostered).
What you’ll be doing:
- Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and operating buffing machines of allocated areas
- Cleaning toilets and wet areas, glass surfaces, dusting and emptying waste bins
- Moving and manual handling of furniture and driving of council vehicles
- Maintaining, stripping and sealing of hard floor surfaces
- Wet cleaning of soft floor or fabric using appropriate equipment
- Report maintenance issues, hazards, or damage
- Safe handling of approved chemicals
Who we’re looking for:
- Minimum of 3 years’ industrial or commercial cleaning experience
- Reliable, punctual and able to work with minimal supervision
- Proven experience stripping and maintaining hard floor finishes
- Able to competently operate slow and high-speed buffing machines
- Demonstrated experience in carpet restoration
- Able to safely handle chemicals and knowledge of safe work practices
- Able safely perform physically demanding tasks such as ladder climbing, bending, crouching/squatting, kneeling, lifting furniture, etc
- Valid ‘C’ Class Drivers’ licence (‘LR’ Class is highly desirable)
- Satisfactory National Police Clearance (less than six months old)
- Willing to undertake training, including a Certificate II & III in Cleaning Operations
- Experience working within Local Government in a similar role will be highly regarded!
