Georges River Council have a wonderful opportunity for a Community Capacity Building Officer - Community Safety to join their team.
The Role
The Community and Culture directorate is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Community Capacity Building Officer – Community Safety to join the team, in a part-time capacity.
In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of projects and activities with a particular emphasis on community safety, that support and strengthen the Georges River community, fostering greater connection and resilience.
The successful candidate will take a strategic and coordinated approach to developing sustainable community capacity-building events, projects, programs, and partnerships within the Georges River local government area.

- Part-time salary from $48,927.72 -$56,690.15 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation (dependant on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

The successful candidate will have
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences or other relevant degree (e.g., Social Work, Community Development, Project Management or related) or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence (Class C)
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including the ability to effectively plan, implement and evaluate community events, projects and programs, and manage consultants
- Demonstrated experience in effective community and stakeholder consultation, management and engagement
- Excellent research skills and interpersonal skills, and high level written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of issues relating to community capacity building
- Demonstrated experience in managing program budget allocations
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and with other community organisations
- Ability to set priorities, with sound organisational and time management skills
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite as well as content management systems and relevant technology
Desirable
- Understanding of relevant legislative provisions
- Experience working in Local Government
- Experience working on capacity building projects related to community safety
- Knowledge of the characteristics of Georges River local government area
