How you’ll make a difference

Victoria Daly Regional Council is looking for a full-time Community Development Administration Officer based in Katherine, NT. 

The Community Development Administration Officer provides a high level of administrative support for the Director of Community Development and the team in a professional and efficient manner.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Oversee and coordinate email correspondence, calendar scheduling, appointment setting and financial monitoring for the Director of Community Development.
  2. Prepare meeting agendas, materials, and track action items related to the Community Development department.
  3. Create and maintain document management systems for correspondence, reports and other forms of technical documentation the Community Development Department may use.
  4. Draft correspondence as required and collect information and data to compile reports and papers.
  5. Plan and arrange travel itineraries, including accommodation, and logistics, including contingences for the Director and team.
  6. Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Director.
  7. Serve as the primary point of contact between the Director of Community Development and internal/external stakeholders.
  8. Provide basic support for office equipment and software.
  9. Raise purchase orders and receipt goods or services in accordance with Councils procurement policy and procedures.

As the Victoria Daly region has a large Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, you will need to ensure cultural sensitivity and awareness across all activities.

Selection Criteria - What you’ll bring to the team

To qualify, candidates will need proven administrative experience, including the ability to coordinate and manage tasks effectively.

Additionally, you will join with the following skills and background:

  1. Be willing to undertake work-related learning
  2. Demonstrated learning and growth mindset with a commitment to develop and master the skills necessary to be a successful member of the Community Services team.
  3. Willingness and ability to travel to remote communities across the Council region as required.
  4. Tertiary qualifications in business administration or a related field (Desirable)
  5. Proven experience in managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence.
  6. Strong ability to coordinate and manage travel itineraries efficiently.
  7. Exceptional organisational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
  8. Excellent communication skills with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  9. Proficiency in office technology, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other administrative tools.
  10. Demonstrated commitment to working respectfully and inclusively with Aboriginal & Torres Strait islander peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse communities

Other Requirements

  • Criminal History Check (recent within 3 months)
  • A current Drivers’ Licence
  • NDIs Worker Screening Clearence
  • Working with Children’s clearance (Ochre Card)
