A rare and rewarding opportunity exists for a proactive and community-focused individual to join our award-winning Community Development team at the City of Kwinana. This is a part-time position reporting to the Coordinator Community Development and working alongside a stellar team of dedicated, like-minded professionals.
As our new Community Development Officer – Diversity and Social Wellbeing, you will play a key role in the development, coordination and delivery of programs that promote cultural diversity, social cohesion and equitable access to opportunities within the Kwinana community.
As the go-to specialist in this field, you will work to enhance community participation and inclusion while contributing to the implementation of key City strategies, including the Council Plan, Social Strategy, Disability Inclusion and Access Plan, and Reconciliation Action Plan.

What You’ll Need
To make an impact in this role, the successful candidate will have:
• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a similar or related role, preferably in a local government setting, with a proven ability to develop and implement capacity-building initiatives.
• Demonstrated knowledge of community development, community engagement, and social inclusion principles.
• Strong knowledge of community issues, with a focus on understanding priorities relevant to multicultural and Aboriginal communities.
• Well-developed analytical, report writing, data collection and computer literacy skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively network, build relationships, and engage diverse audiences.
• Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to manage challenging scenarios.
• Demonstrated ability to work in both team environments and independently, with the ability to prioritise workloads autonomously.
• Tertiary qualification in community development, community services or similar, or significant high-level experience in a related field.
• Driver’s Licence and willingness to obtain Police Clearance, Provide First Aid certificate and work after hours and weekends.
• Ability to work after hours and weekends.
