Description

Applications are invited for the position of Community Engagement Officer, based at Council's Administration Centre. The successful applicant shall be responsible for promoting Council's public image, publicising activities, and enhancing community understanding of Council's role, services and achievements through effective communication and public relations materials and methods. The Community Engagement Officer will provide administrative support to Manager Administrative & Marketing Services for all aspects of Council's grant management function.

Essential:

Qualifications

  • Higher School Certificate or equivalent; OR
  • NSW School Certificate/Record of School Achievement and satisfactory experience.

Skills and Experience

  • Capacity to operate in an office environment using Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and other general office computer applications;
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people;
  • Demonstrated high degree of confidentiality;
  • Demonstrated ability, experience and commitment to excellence in customer service;
  • Proven and demonstrated outstanding written communication skills;
  • Proven and demonstrated experience delivering published documents including media releases, reports and strategic documents;
  • Proven experience in and ability to communicate complex and technical information in plain English to suit a wide range of communication channels;
  • Understanding of and experience in using sound visual and graphic design principles and practices to enhance communication;
  • Knowledge and experience creating, editing and monitoring engaging news content for EDM's, social media platforms and websites;
  • Flexibility to attend meetings and events outside business hours when required; and
  • Sound demonstrated experience in preparing and submitting grant applications and submissions.

Desirable:

Qualifications

Commencement, progression and/or completion of a course of study acceptable to the Director Corporate and Economic Services such as a Certificate in Business Administration;

Skills and Experience

• Proven and demonstrated experience in graphic design software;
• Sound understanding of photography, website design and content management, printing and event management; and
Demonstrated experience in Integrated Planning and Reporting.

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The classification for the position will be Operational Band 2, Level 2, Grade 10 to Grade 12. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,310.30 to $1,504.35 gross per week.
