About the role
As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will play a key role in fostering meaningful, two-way dialogue between the City of Canning and its residents. Your efforts will help shape the future of Canning by ensuring community insights influence the planning and execution of impactful projects and services.
Reporting to the Customer Experience & Engagement Coordinator, this is a permanent full-time role in a forward-thinking local council. What you’ll be doing:
- Identify and lead innovative, high-impact engagement projects that align with the City’s strategic priorities and that bring the community and the City together
- Lead community consultation, workshops and engagement processes to ensure the City understands and can respond to community needs and aspirations
- Determine key engagement projects by engaging internal stakeholders and developing a process for best practise delivery
- Develop the capability of staff to engage effectively and partner with the community
- Research and analyse engagement outcomes and identify trends to inform decision-making and provide recommendations
- Champion the City’s community engagement framework and drive innovate and best practices in community engagement across the City
Who we’re looking for:
- Community Engagement Expertise - Advanced level experience in developing and delivering community engagement plans and strategies
- Strategic & Consultative - Able to lead and manage community consultation processes, build trust with stakeholders, and ensure the City is responsive to community needs and aspirations
- Highly Effective Communicator - You confidently engage and facilitate across diverse audiences, as well as write professionally and concisely
- Proven research and analytical skills – able to assess and manage data, identify trends and form actionable insights
- Qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent level experience in a similar role, demonstrating best practice in community and stakeholder engagement
- Able to provide a Satisfactory National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
