- Salary range: $82,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation
The Town of Mosman Park is passionate about building connected, vibrant communities. Our team is growing, and we’re looking for a dedicated Community Planning and Place Officer to help us bring our community's vision to life through place-based planning, engagement, and sustainable community development.
About the Role
Do you want to be a part of a team that actively shapes and enhances community spaces? The Community Planning and Place Officer will drive initiatives to strengthen Mosman Park's community and business areas, collaborating with local groups, building relationships and rapport with stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure our town's growth is inclusive, vibrant, and sustainable. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to community wellbeing and development by leading community events, building capacity, and developing meaningful partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Place-Based Planning & Community Development: Work with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and support strategies for place activation and enhancement. Help realise our community's goals in economic development, diversity and inclusion, and more.
- Community Engagement & Advocacy: Engage with community members / leaders, businesses, and government agencies to foster positive relationships and advocate for community needs.
- Project Management & Reporting: Assist in creating place assessment reports, developing action plans, and managing project data to track progress and measure impact.
- Funding & Resource Management: Identify external funding opportunities, support budget management, and maintain accurate engagement, financial, and statistical records.
- Activation and Operation: Coordinate the delivery of Town and Private events.
Qualifications and Experience
- A qualification in community development, urban planning, social sciences, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in community planning, placemaking, stakeholder engagement, and project management.
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to connect with diverse stakeholders and facilitate effective collaboration.
- Understanding of, place-based planning approaches, and community-building techniques.
- Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence
- Flexibility to work outside business hours as required.
