The Role
CBCity is seeking a Chain of Responsibility (CoR) Compliance & Driver Development Officer to ensure our transport activities meet HVNL and CoR requirements. This role involves auditing and reporting on transport safety, driving continuous improvement, providing CoR education across the organisation, and managing key transport safety projects.

Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Work closely with the Team Leader and Manager Fleet to ensure the Council’s transport activities comply with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and CoR Management Plan (CoRMP) requirements, and contribute to the development of safety practices.
- Assist with the auditing and reporting on transport safety across key operations and sites, identifying areas for continuous improvement aligned with CoRMP standards.
- Educate and support various departments on CoR policies, legislative requirements, and safety procedures to ensure consistent adherence to regulations.
- Oversee driver inductions, ongoing training, and assessments of driver competencies, while conducting regular vehicle and plant inspections to ensure they meet safety and compliance standards.
- Lead initiatives aimed at reducing risks and incidents, improving driver behaviour and safety culture, and enhancing fleet safety performance.
- Manage investigations into vehicle incidents, including gathering data, conducting risk assessments, and analysing trends to implement targeted improvements.
- Ensure all fleet operations comply with the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry legislation to uphold safety and compliance standards.

You will have
- HR Driver’s Licence
- Trade Qualification in Automotive Engineering (Light & Heavy)
- Extensive experience in transport safety and compliance, particularly in heavy and light vehicle waste and transport industries
- In-depth knowledge of the Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility provisions
- Experience managing large vehicle fleets and drivers, ensuring safety and compliance
- Proficient in fleet auditing, safety reporting, and regulatory compliance
- Familiar with vehicle inspection standards and manuals
- Skilled in driver training, competency assessments, and driving culture change
- Experienced in analysing vehicle incident and crash data for investigation and improvement purposes.

A Tertiary qualification Mechanical or Automotive Engineering is not essential but highly advantageous.

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $101,423 (Grade H, Step 1) + Leaseback Vehicle + 11.5% super. Salary is negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
