What will you do as a Compliance Officer?
Our Compliance Officers play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of the City’s community by investigating compliance issues and enforcing state and local laws, as well as council policies. They do this by:
- Investigating complaints about non-compliance and negotiating with landowners, residents and businesses
- Interpreting and enforcing laws relating to planning, building, and local matters like building site conditions, verge inspections, sand drift, stormwater disposal, and more
- Conducting inspections, assessments, and audits to ensure community standards are upheld
- Engaging and educating community residents and businesses on compliance matters
- Providing excellent customer service to residents regarding their requests and investigations
- Handling community complaints with a positive attitude, and aiming for practical solutions
Who we’re looking for:
- A qualification in Regulatory Services, Government Investigations, Statutory Compliance, or significant experience in compliance work
- Strong knowledge and skills in interpreting legislation and assessing compliance issues
- Proven conflict-resolution skills and ability to negotiate outcomes with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Valid C class driver’s license and satisfactory National Police Clearance
