What We Can Offer You

  • Temporary (12 months), Full-Time - 36 hours per week
    • 4 day work week - Monday to Thursday
  • Salary from $87,770.80 - $101,695.64 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation (dependant on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

About the Team and Role

This role is responsible for Civil Team that is a part of the City Operational Services which is responsible for delivery of both programmed preventative and reactive maintenance of Council buildings and City Infrastructure. Working with the Team Leader Trades and Team Leader Facilities this position programs and oversees preventative maintenance works for Council’s buildings, infrastructure, and open space assets.

In collaboration with the Team Leaders this position programs works for internal resources or through contract to ensure high efficiencies and best value for the Council. 

  • Ensure Council preventative programs are completed meeting service levels, community expectations, compliance and minimise risk.
  • Oversee contractor works in progress at site, ensuring quality, timeliness, WHS compliance and work is performed in full compliance with relevant legislation.   
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, policies, briefs, specifications, budgets, tenders, and grant applications as required.
  • Provide advice to stakeholders regarding matters pertaining to City Maintenance and any works being undertaken by the team. This would include internal and external customers, contractors, and various levels of Council management.

 

The successful candidate will have

We’re looking for someone with a relevant diploma or qualification and demonstrated experience in building construction, facilities and infrastructure. You will also bring a customer focused approach and can-do attitude to engage and influence key stakeholders to achieve the best outcome for Council and the community. You're someone who has extensive experience in building construction, facilities, and in infrastructure construction or maintenance. 

  • Building diploma or trade qualifications and or/ extensive practical experience relating to building construction, facilities, and infrastructure
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card) 
  • Extensive experience in building construction, facilities, and infrastructure construction or maintenance
  • Experience developing specifications for works and relevant budgets
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Building Code of Australia and other relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of asset management maintenance cycles and associated budgets
  • Demonstrated experience in managing works/projects including supervision of contractors and/or work crews
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of WHS legislation and Local Government requirements for contractor works
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills
  • Highly developed computer skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to with accountability 

 

Desirable

  • Ability to undertake quantity calculations and estimating
  • Project management qualifications
