Purpose of the role

The City Life directorate delivers personalised and public services to enhance community life, including family, aged, leisure and cultural services.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Sustainable Waste Management Coordinator to oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of our waste management strategy and initiatives. This role requires someone with strong organisational skills, a deep understanding of sustainable practices especially domestic waste management, the ability to collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders, and delivery of community education. The ideal candidate will be driven by a passion for circular economy, resource recovery and will hep Bayside achieve a net zero emission and circular economy further for the City.

You can also expect to:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate Bayside Sustainable Waste Management Strategy and Action plan, including 8R Circular Economy Model
  • Develop, implement and evaluate community environmental education programs in collaboration with Waste Services, and Environment and Resilience teams
  • Liaise with the Coordinator Waste Contracts, Planning & Commercial to ensure alignment and input into Council Sustainable waste management strategy
  • Coordinate the Sustainable waste management team in collaboration with Waste services to provide sustainable waste management programs and community education
  • Stay up to date on emerging trends, technologies and policies related to sustainable waste management

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Tertiary or other qualifications and/or equivalent experiences in a relevant field
  • Current Drivers Licence Class C
  • 2+ years experience in waste management, environmental sustainability or similar role
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in community environmental education and behaviour change
