The role

Join our team as the Coordinator Work Health and Safety, where you will play a pivotal role in championing Health, Safety, and Wellbeing across our organisation. Your expertise will guide our leaders and staff in adopting and embedding safe and healthy workplace practices. This role offers the opportunity to lead the delivery of safety and wellbeing services, driving initiatives that support a culture centered on safety and positive wellbeing outcomes.

In this strategic leadership role, you will provide expert advice on Work Health and Safety (WH&S) legislation, industry standards, and best practices to ensure that Council’s objectives are met effectively and sustainably. By aligning WH&S projects and programs with broader organisational goals, you will drive Council’s WH&S strategy forward, overseeing team plans and managing budgets to keep Council priorities on track. Additionally, you will play a key role in risk management, developing and implementing consistent practices that ensure a safe and compliant workplace for all.

You will lead the Safety and Wellbeing team, delivering essential services to support all leaders and staff across the organisation. Working closely with the Manager, Organisational Strategy and People, you will help to strengthen Council’s commitment to a positive health and safety culture. Your role also includes reviewing and continuously improving WH&S practices, staying informed on industry trends, and preparing reports for senior management. As a mentor, you will foster a culture of excellence by coaching, developing, and managing team performance in line with Council’s Organisational Values.

Salary: Commencing salary circa $116,000 p.a. plus superannuation

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
