About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced communications professional to join our award winning Communications and Marketing team on a permanent, full-time basis. The successful applicant will have extensive experience with advertising, e-mail marketing, and managing large scale print productions from concept to delivery. Experience with design and mass distribution of printed collateral is essential, as is experience in creating and delivering multiple concurrent comprehensive marketing campaigns.

You will have a demonstrated ability to manage budgets and multiple projects with competing stakeholders and deadlines.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Marketing and Communications or a related discipline and/or In-depth experience in a similar role
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, a capacity to work independently and prioritise workloads
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a proven ability to write and produce communications for internal and external stakeholders
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, able to liaise with multiple levels of management and stakeholders
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various advertising mediums and the ability to assess reach and frequency, and maximise return on investment for advertising spend
  • Ability to think independently and make sound judgements as required and work in a team context
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information
  • Ability to quickly build strong relationships and rapport with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation 
  • The ability to work well under pressure on simultaneous tasks with tight deadlines
  • High level of computer literacy with excellent word processing, writing and editing skills including Word and using a content management system (CMS)
  • Current class C driver’s licence. 

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,867.95 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
