The role of Crew Leader Water and Sewer is responsible for the day-to-day operation and leadership of the efficient delivery of Water and Sewer programs including the operation, maintenance, repair and construction activities of water and sewerage network services across the Central Coast.
This role will see you be responsible for work carried out by external contractors and leading small teams of in-house staff, as required.
This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.
Key activities of this role include:
- Manage the efficient coordination of operation, maintenance, repair and construction activities associated with water and sewer mains and fittings, reservoirs, pumping stations and vacuum systems in accordance with industry practices and O&M manuals in order to enhance the operations of Council's water and sewerage network to provide an agreed level of service to the community.
- Provide the first response and diagnosis to customer service issues and major system events or emergencies as they arise. This may involve containing the issue, communicating with customers and stakeholders, minimising the impacts of the incident much as practicable, and planning and coordinating the rectification works.
- When responding to customer issues or system events or emergencies, tasks may include identification of risks, site constraints and impacts, commencing system shutdowns and isolations, assessing the scope of rectification works, commencing arranging resources, starting service location, and coordinating internal crews/ external contractors to complete the works.

Essential Criteria:
- A Certificate III qualification in Water industry Operations, Civil Construction or related OR equivalent demonstrated solid contemporary experience in water and sewer.
- A current Construction General Induction Card - NSW SafeWork or equivalent.
- Class B High Pressure Jetting operations.
- A current class MR Drivers Licence.
- A current Confined Spaces certification.
- A current Working at Heights certification.
- A current SafeWork NSW Dogging certification.
- A current SafeWork NSW Overhead Crane certification.
- A current SafeWork NSW Traffic Controller certification (TCR).
- A current SafeWork NSW Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP) certification.
- A current Work Near Overhead Power Lines certification.
- A current Asbestos Awareness certification.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake and pass a Confined Spaces medical.
Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
The commencing salary for this position is up to $74.7k per annum plus an $18.92 per week working allowance plus 11.5% superannuation. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $86.k per annum on completion of assessment of skills and performance.
