Salary Range: $1,115 - $1,319 per 35 hour week + superannuation

As the Customer Service and Systems Support Officer, you will play a vital role in providing top-notch customer service to our residents, businesses, and internal stakeholders, handling a wide range of enquiries via phone, email, and in person. Whether it’s assisting with council services, processing payments, or addressing customer concerns, you will be part of the amazing team providing the first point of contact, offering efficient and accurate responses with professionalism and courtesy.
This role is also a key support to the wider business, providing technical support to internal systems, ensuring smooth digital operations, troubleshooting issues, and supporting staff in using council systems. You’ll maintain and update critical records, ensuring compliance with the State Records Act 2000 while contributing to the ongoing development of our records management system.
To succeed in this role, you will need a blend of strong customer service skills and technical expertise. You should be proficient in IT systems, enjoy supporting staff with their digital tools, and be highly organised in managing records. Additionally, your strong communication and problem-solving skills will help you engage effectively with customers and colleagues alike.

This position is located in the beautiful town of Coonabarabran, known as the Astronomy Capital of Australia, which is midway between Melbourne and Brisbane and is known for its beautiful landscape and stunning night skies. The town has medical services, excellent schools, a variety of sporting and social clubs and a thriving tourism Industry. With the nearby Warrumbungle National Park, which is also Australia’s first Dark Sky Park, there is plenty to do and explore whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation.
Selection criteria include:
- Demonstrated experience in customer service, administration, or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using computer systems, including Microsoft Office and customer management software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development
- Class C driver’s licence.
It is a plus if you have experience in local government or public sector customer service roles, familiarity with council-specific software (e.g. Pathway, TechOne, or Authority) and basic knowledge of IT troubleshooting and systems support.
