Central Coast Council deals with more than 3,000 development applications per year, with a construction value of more than $1 billion, in addition to associated civil engineering approvals, supporting infrastructure and principal certifying authority functions. In the past few years there has been an ongoing uplift in development activity across the board, which is expected to continue as the regional economy continues to grow.

The roles are responsible for assessing residential applications and will also see you providing advice into planning, development, property and land use matters, ensuring the efficient implementation of land use policy and compliance with Council’s local laws and policies. 

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Conduct assessment of development and other planning related applications including some site inspections in required timeframes
  • Provide professional advice on strategic and statutory planning matters to customers and industry professionals
  • Provide advice and commentary with regards to policy amendments to strategic land-use policy and plans, including Development Control Plans, Local Environmental Plans and Contributions Plans.

About you:

  • You hold a Degree qualification in Town Planning or related field with eligibility to apply for membership to the Planning Institute of Australia
  • Your knowledge of relevant legislation and industry practices will allow you to provide solutions to internal and external customers 
  • You enjoy the challenge that comes with assessment of development applications in a fast growing region

The Development Planner roles provide a commencing salary range of between $85k to $103k per annum + 11.5% superannuation.

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements available.

Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
