Full-time

Description

Are you a people-focused, authentic leader with an exceptional financial acumen, who is passionate about ensuring financial sustainability within a diverse region?
• Contribute significantly to positive community outcomes for the region.
• Influence stakeholders by developing strong relationships with stakeholders
• Competitive remuneration for the region

Kempsey Shire Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Corporate and Commercial to lead a diverse portfolio and play a crucial role in shaping their future. Located on the stunning Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Kempsey Shire boasts breathtaking natural beauty, including pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and the majestic Macleay River.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead a diverse team of approximately 80-90 staff, across a broad portfolio encompassing Finance and Corporate Performance, Community Partnerships, Governance and Information Services, People and Culture, and Commercial Business. Within this team, you will foster a culture of practicality and adaptability to best serve the community in its desire for financial sustainability.

While the need for a finance specialist is important for this role, it also requires a people person. You will need to connect with staff, residents, and stakeholders alike to be successful in the role. Building strong stakeholder relationships, including with ratepayer and community groups, and driving commercial success while balancing community benefit will be crucial. The relationships you build, and your innovative thinking, will be the key to unlocking financial strategies and plans needed to meet community needs.

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate that you are a proven leader with exceptional financial acumen (CA/CPA accreditation is desirable, but not essential); a passion for developing high-performing teams; and excellent communication skills.

This role offers a real opportunity to join the executive leadership team and play a central role in delivering on the community’s plans and aspirations, ensuring long-term financial sustainability, and balancing community needs with responsible financial management in a dynamic regional context.
