Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within Regional Activation Unit as our Economic Development Coordinator.

  • Permanent Full-Time or Part-Time negotiable – up to 35 hours per week
  • Attractive Salary ranging from $95,235.40 up to $109,517.20(PLUS Superannuation) depending on qualifications and experience
  • Rostered day off every 3 weeks - an extra 17 days off a year!

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Economic Development Coordinator role presents an exciting opportunity to drive projects and programs that stimulate and support positive economic development outcomes for the Moree Plains and to work in collaboration with a diverse team of passionate professionals. A key focus of this role is to facilitate the retention, growth and development of local businesses, and foster new businesses and enterprises. The role will also actively engage with the business community to support initiatives that will improve the vibrancy and amenity of our CBDs . You will also support Council’s interface with key bodies such as Tourism Moree with a view to support increased visitation across the Shire. Another exciting aspect of the role is the oversight and support of the grants function of Council with a core focus on supporting the broader population growth of the Shire.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

ABOUT YOU

Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience and/or qualifications: 

  • Tertiary qualifications at Degree level in Economic Development, Business, Commerce, Marketing, Public Relations or other Social Sciences in addition to relevant professional experience. 
    (Note: Considerable relevant practical experience may be taken into account as being equivalent to formal qualifications but may result in an appointment at a lower level).
  •  An understanding and appreciation for the practice of Economic Development in a regional context.
  •  Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to lead and create a cohesive team environment, the ability to maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and the ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing situations
